19A - Idea Napkin No. 2

Idea Napkin No. 2

1. You

Hi readers! My name is Jenna Carbone and I am an online business student at the University of Florida.
I have experience in operations, real estate, customer service, hospitality, child care, and education.
I aspire to work in a business operational role with huge growth opportunities. I also would like to become
a licenced real estate professional, as I have both a passion for people and a passion for real estate.
If I were to actually start Prescription Place, I would see it playing a major role in my life. Growing the
business would be a primary focus of mine, which requires a lot of attention.

2. What are you offering to customers?

I am offering customers a subscription-based service that compares prices and ratings of medications in
the United States. My service uses complex algorithms to retrieve, tabulate, and sort this data to facilitate
indirect medication purchases. Prescription Place will recommend to customers which prescription to
buy/request from prescribers and where to find it at the lowest price.

3. Who are you offering it to?

My customer demographic is tech savvy, middle-aged men and women with chronic illnesses. Most importantly,
all of my customers are interested in saving money. They have children and bills to pay. They are a part
of the sharing economy. They are influential in their communities because of their drive to overcome the
setbacks of their illnesses, including financial setbacks.

4. Why do they care?

Customers will subscribe to this service because it is unique, original, and one-of-a-kind. It will save them
time and money—two commodities in finite supply.

5. What are your core competencies?

Prescription Place’s core competencies include low subscription fees and membership flexibility, to start.
Members can cancel or take a break from our service at any time for any reason. Our support staff is
knowledgeable about our software and features. We have direct relationships with pharmaceutical reps
to retrieve the latest info on medications and related research.

I believe these elements fit together for the most part. Ideally, it would be wonderful to target baby
boomers and senior citizens but they just don’t have as much a chance of utilizing our service well
via the internet. Perhaps this would happen at a later adoption phase. My concept may be weaker
from indecision on the existence of ads on the site and in the customer portal. Could we be unbiased
with ads in the customer dashboard? Would we be fulfilling our mission statement by advertising for
medication that may be more expensive, while also providing a discount through our site?

Thank you for the positive comments on Idea Napkin No. 1! Raymond suggested that I provide some
more thoughts about the reasoning behind Prescription Place’s features and competencies. I feel like
I’ve honed in on these characteristics more in this second idea napkin, without being too verbose.
I tried to be succinct in an effort to keep my readers’ attention. Monica, I agree that this service would
play a pivotal role in reforming the pharmaceutical industry (i.e. fair prices), which is why Prescription
Place would be founded. Feedback is essential and very much appreciated! Thank you!

  1. Jenna, good job on altering your idea napkin. I think you really took the feedback and adjusted whatever that needed to be fixed or clarified. Feedback for my product was valuable because a lot of people pointed out aspects I didn't realize or think about before. It's good to hear what other people are saying because it gives you another perspective.
