Idea Napkin No 1

1) You. Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life?

My name is Jenna Carbone. I am a full-time real estate assistant and UF Online business student. My
talents include time management, organization, engaging with people, running, soccer, and motivating
myself and others. I have a year of experience in real estate, two years in child-related services, and two
years in the restaurant industry. I aspire to work for a start-up, preferably in the real estate sector, in Silicon
Valley. If I were to actually start Prescription Place, I see it playing an important role in my life. I would
dedicate most of my time to finding people to grow the business by acquiring startup capital and a customer
base.

2) What are you offering to customers? Describe the product or service (in other words, how you'll solve customers' unmet needs).
I am offering customers a sophisticated application that collects and sorts data for comparing prescription
prices. Patients using my service would have an opportunity to save money on their prescriptions, by
becoming more knowledgeable about market prices and manufacturing processes/costs.
3) Who are you offering it to? Describe, in as much detail as possible, the demographic and psychographic characteristics of your customers. Think especially of this question: what do your customers all have in common?
I am offering Prescription Place to people with expensive prescriptions. People with expensive prescriptions
are most-likely those people with chronic conditions. Chronic conditions affect people of various ages, genders,
and races. However, I see great potential in the technologically inclined population of middle-class Americans,
ages 35 to 65. All of my customers can afford their prescriptions right now, but recognize the monthly expenses
accruing because of high prescription prices, and want they would all like to save money.
4) Why do they care? Your solution is only valuable insofar as customers believe its valuable to them. Here, explain why customers will actually pay you money to use your product or service.
Customers would pay a monthly subscription to access sophisticated software that takes the work out of hours
upon hours of research and data collection for price comparison across various drugs and manufacturers in the
United States. They care about saving time and saving money. The software would essentially pay for itself via
the subscription network. Prescription Place has no competitors and is a revolutionary concept that would help
fight for fair market prices of prescription drugs. Prescription Place would put the power back into the hands of
the consumer-- where it belongs.
5) What are your core competencies? What sets you apart from everyone else? Also: what do you have that nobody else has?
Prescription Place is set apart from any other comparison software because it focuses solely on the prescription
drug market. We have sophisticated algorithms that juxtapose prescription statistics for subscribed users, and is
updated in real-time. These statistics include WAC, ingredients, side effects, use, brand information, etc. No other
service like this exists today. We could even partner with insurance providers for even greater leverage in the
healthcare market.

  1. Your idea napkin looks really good. It covers everything that was mentioned for the assignment. However, it would have been nice to see your thoughts on all of these things. As in, parts that seem to fit really well together and weak parts of the plan you believe exist. Additionally, perhaps you could have had more detail in the prototypical customer, although I think it’s pretty evident that it’s going to be prescription users of all backgrounds. I’m not sure there’s anything else to say, good work.

  2. This would be a very applicable idea in society. As healthcare is constantly changing in todays world this would benefit anyone who is willing to outsmart the pharmaceutical companies and their fluctuating prices. Ease of access to information is what the world demands today and this definitely fits the bill.
